FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
DO I HAVE TO BE IN GREAT SHAPE TO DO MARTIAL ARTS?
No. Our students all start at varying levels of physical ability. If you have concerns about starting a physical activity such as martial arts, consult with a physician.
DO I NEED ANY PRIOR EXPERIENCE TO DO MARTIAL ARTS?
DO YOU OFFER TUITION DISCOUNTS FOR MULTIPLE STUDENTS FROM THE SAME FAMILY?
IS A BLACK BELT THE END OF MY TRAINING?
I’M WORRIED ABOUT SPARRING. CAN YOU GET SERIOUSLY HURT?
No. Almost all of our students start with no previous martial arts training.
Yes. We love it when families train together. The best way to help your children earn their black belt is for you to earn yours with them. For questions regarding tuition/discounts send us an e-mail.
Absolutely not. Most martial artists will agree, your training actually begins once you earn your black belt. In our martial arts system, training is a lifelong pursuit. There are many levels of training and achievement after you have earned your black belt.
Possibly. The sparring style we do is similar to Olympic style sparring. We do not start our students sparring until they are a yellow belt. Students are gradually introduced to sparring and its techniques. We teach students the rules of sparring and they are required to wear protective sparring equipment. However, while we take several precautions to prevent injuries, they can occur. That being said, serious injuries are rare. It is common for students to have bumps and bruises after sparring. Martial arts is a contact activity.
WHAT IS THE BELT PROGRESSION?
Most beginners over the age of 6 will start out as a White Belt. After white, we do two levels of Yellow, Green, Blue, and Red. After the second level of Red, students test for their brown belt, then their black on up to a 9th degree black belt. Ages 4-6 start out in the Tiger Program and will test every two months receiving a white belt with a color strip down the middle. After they complete that program they are ready for their white belt. They then would continue on with the previously stated belt progression.
DO YOU REALLY BREAK BOARDS, CONCRETE, ETC?
Absolutely. We make regular trips to Lowe’s to buy lumber…to break! It’s fun and all students are capable of doing it.
HOW OFTEN SHOULD I COME TO CLASS?
Infinity Martial Arts and Self-Defense holds regularly scheduled classes Monday-Thursday. Your tuition is the same if you come one day or every day. We recommend students attend classes at least twice per week.
